Roe v. Wade Our Team Thoughts
Along with everyone in the U.S. and international community, our staff at AI for Good has been reeling since the release of the Roe v. Wade decision. In an effort to process, learn from one another, and inform our advocacy going forward, we’ll be having some of our team share their thoughts.
“The decision to strike down Roe v. Wade by the US Supreme Court is an unfortunate reminder that our seemingly inalienable rights to freedom, liberty, democracy have always been steeped in contestation. Such a decision, alone, engenders needless psychosocial stress, violates expectations, and threatens the health and well-being of all women. Given this, capitulation is not an option, and the fight to support the health and well-being of women is non-negotiable at AI for Good. The struggle continues.”
Dr. Randon Taylor, Visiting Scholar
“I am absolutely devastated for the millions of women who will be denied abortion care in the months and years to come, a burden that will fall disproportionately on the shoulders of young, poor, Black and Brown women. This egregious reality, as well as the future implications of the Dobbs decision on the LGBTQ community, are terrifying; as people and as an organization, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing equity and accessibility in any way that we can.
With the overturn of Roe and Casey, this court has unequivocally demonstrated that it is a captured institution, made possible by the failure to fight for the the rights of the people they represent by detached politicians on both sides of the aisle. Coupled with an abject failure to provide American mothers and children with universal and accessible healthcare, daycare, and education, this decision is the culmination of decades of anti-abortion activism rooted in an unguarded obsession with power and control. I am heartbroken.”

“As a woman, waking up to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade was a jarring start to my Friday. I was born in the 80s and this vital piece of legislation has been an assumed lifeline- a symbol that whatever myself or fellow American women go through, we have a choice in what comes next.
It is easy working in the Sustainable Development nonprofit space to look at health access, maternal mortality, and gender equality through the lens of National Geographic pictures. But these core values and intrinsic human issues are far from equal or just within our own borders. At the AI for Good Foundation we are committed to the value system that upholds the UN SDGS and shine the light of transparency and demand to do better across the US and the International Community we serve.”

“The AI for Good Foundation stands with the millions of Americans that have had their rights taken away in the overturning of Roe V. Wade. In the wake of this inhumane decision, we ask our network to consider donating to an abortion fund, such as NNAF Abortion Funds (@AbortionFunds) or one more local to your state. Additionally, please view this infographic on resources provided by Planned Parenthood. https://www.instagram.com/p/CfMiCrdLI5X/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link”
